Delhi a beautiful concrete jungle of more than 16.5 million people of all communities and religions situated on the banks of the River Yamuna. River Yamuna is the sacred river in Hindu religion and the only major river in Delhi. It is also a Union territory which houses three World Heritage monuments— Red Fort, Qutub Minar, and Humayun’s Tomb which have been surviving from many centuries. Delhi is the house of Indian parliament, Supreme Court, offices of central ministers and lots of historical monuments. It is also known for some of the beautifully designed buildings like Rashtrapati Bhavan, parliament house. It is a complete tourism hub which welcomes more than 20 million out-of-towners annually. Delhi is graded as the fifth most populated urban area in the world for being surrounded by major IT and cyber hub cities like Faridabad, Gurgaon, and Noida. It is found to be one of the fastest growing cities in India.

Just like two sides of the coin, the city has two parts old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi which was founded by Mughal rulers, presents an incredible face of traditional historical values of India with its narrow streets, old havelis, colorful bazaars, countless monuments. While New Delhi is the modern face having VVIPs buildings, legislative homes, and diplomat zones. Purani Dilli or the Old city is the heart of Delhi and a great place to go bargain for a large variety of goods- from biryani to bangle, pin to pearl, street gol-gappas to hallmarked gold.

Once Delhi used to have 14 gates but only five are surviving and still standing today. They include;

  • @Ajmeri Gate: Facing towards Ajmer in Rajasthan;
  • @Lahori Gate: Facing towards Lahore in Pakistan;
  • @Kashmiri Gate: Pointing North to Kashmir;
  • @Delhi Gate: A Bunch of Road to earlier cities of Delhi;
  • @Turkman Gate: Named after pious saint Hazrat Shah Turkam.
