Lotan Ji Chole Wale

When it comes to breakfast in Delhi’s winter. Very first thing comes up in mind which is “Lotan k chholey”. Yes this is a dish which makes you feel warm from the first bite. This is only enjoyed @ chawri Bazar every morning from 8am-11am. After that vendor moves to Darya ganj by 12noon. So what are you waiting for? Don’t forget to take your friend who loves to gobble up spicy food

Khan Omelette Corner

Must say the best omlette I have ever eaten till now. It was fluffy as a pillow, toasty bread sides, and topped with green coriander leaves… Tastes best in winter evenings to make you warm with some of your foodie partners. Moreover it’s comparatively cheaper than any other egg makers outlet

Shyam Sweets

Bedmi Puri with Aloo(potato) ki sabzi tastes extremely scrumptious. Bedmi Puri are filled with dal just after fried into oil. As the puri is subtly deep fried it does not feel like oily nor can you see oil on the palette or your hands. No matter if the Puri’s are deep fried into the oil they are not that heavy. Not so spicy “Aloo ki sabzi” too is fantastically prepared with consistent spices just because it should taste same seven days of the week. Poori sabzi will be served with Choley and Gajar ka achar(carrot pickle). You can make your breakfast perfectly done by addying Dahi ki lassi in your list. A visit to Shyam sweets who offers this incomparable combination will be worth trying.

Many other things which they offer are Dahi ki Lassi, Flavoured milk, Nagori Halwa, Matar Kachori, Aloo Samosa, Matar Samosa, and countless sweets.

We have been to this place just for the sake of breakfast uncounted times. This can be the best breakfast place for you without making a hole in your pocket.

Rahul Eggs

“Rahul Egg”- A heaven for eggitarians, located just under the Keshav Puram Metro Station. This outlet serves more than 500 dishes preprared with Egg. They have more than 50 types of omlettes only. I am sure one gets confused while making order. Best part is the owner will give you the suggestions on behalf of your likes, dislikes, mood and weather. As far as quality is concerned, the food quality is super good. One cannot see their experienced chef as their kitchen is hidden by cash counter. One can eat on the tables provided in front of the shop or sitting place is also there which is not that big. Apart from these entire features this place is very cost effective. And yes if you are an Egg lover than you should come here as soon as possible. Our personal favourite was “Tandoori jalandhari” and “Monaco omlette”. Both the dish were prepared in butter and topped with coriander leaves and white cheese. Some other famous dishes which the owner will recommend you to eat are: Tandoori jalandhari, Amritsari jalandhari, Seekh kebab omlette, Monaco eggs and Monaco omlette.

Chaayos

“Chaayos” has become a great meeting place or may say an alternate for CCD where we visit atleast 3 times a week. Being delhiite the love of chai is inborn. They have many types and varieties of chai which attracts you to this place often. Everything at its best, this place offers you a large variety of snacks with an soothing ambience. Chaayos is now turn to be a famous place among all age groups without burning one’s pocket. We think no one can deny a chai to get warmed up in this delhi ki sardi. Now Cp houses two outlet of chaayos chain and both of them are beautifully decorated with having good seating arrangements.

Our favourite tea is a  “”SHAHI CHAI””  with thick creamy texture and riched with dry fruits. Shahi Chai is an epic invention made by “Chaayos”. Chai is as thick as Rabri and tastes heavenly. I sometimes order their kulhad wali chaai because of its simplicity.

Some of their other dishes which were tried by us so far:

Bun Omlette , Poha,  Baarish ke pakore, Garden fresh sandwich, Banana Walnut Cake, Paneer Bhurji Bun, Chocolate Moist Cake, Matar Kulcha, Mutton Cutlet, Some of paranthas Veg and Non-Veg both, Palak Patta Chaat, Chicken keema Loaded Open Paratha, Modinagar Shikanji, Masala chai, Gur Wali Chai.

Our experience was amazing and so will yours!

Al Jawahar

A perfect place for non vegetarians. Be it a beautiful plate of chicken korma with cutted onions or kaleji, this place has its unique taste. First when we entered into the restaurant area didn’t find anything that impressive. But after seeing the hospitality and the manner in which we were welcomed by staff was enough to spend some time and gobble up some typical non veg food. After going through the menu 3 or may b 4 times we decided to order “Chicken kali Mirch” with “khamiri naan”. Chicken was too good and juicy and khamiri naan was sweetest and fluffy as a pillow. We couldn’t stop ourselves to repeat the table again. AL jawahar is one of the well known place of Delhi 6th what it come to non veg food.

Teasta – The Tea Shop

Just outside the complex area this tea shop can be spotted which says that they have been Making tea from 1996. So just for checking whether they have such taste or not we jumped inside the small kiosk. Interior was not that extraordinary but yes uncommon which gave the perfect touch to sip some of their product. After a short decision we make a call for darkening Chai and a cold coffee with walnut. (one Can see men preparing your order as there is open kitchen area) Preparations took not more then 5minutes and we were so excited to take a sip as soon as possible. Don’t know about cold coffee but yes ” Darjeeling Tea ” tasted very much like the traditional Chai one can only taste in Darjeeling. Moreover rates are very low and one should visit this kiosk if going to noida.

Chaina Ram Sindhi Confectioners

Be it a breakfast or a business meeting we Delhi people are always in hurry and in search of some ready meals and take-aways. We are here talking about take away because this shop is one of those where you can take your 4-wheelers. Chaina rams’s shop is located just next to Fatehouri masjid, Chandni Chowk. Sitting area is not that spacious but sitll there is a sitting space for 10-12 people.

Goosebumps

We were attending a wedding and suddenly saw a stall which was seeking everybody’s attention. So we decided to rush their to see what was happening. What we saw was a guy making frozen ice cream with excellence. No one can stop himself to taste this candy-coated frozen dessert. Neither did we 😊 We took one and took a spoon.. Wuh! It was worthy to struggle and get one. We recommend you to go there and order according to your gusto.

Shiv Misthan Bhandar

Just like many other breakfast joint in Old Delhi. this place too has delicacies rich in flavors and taste.

Shiv Mishthan Bhandar serves a large variety of snacks like samosas, kachori and many more from 11am onwards and that too sweets. All these preparations are made with Desi Ghee. As far as the breakfast is concerned they have two popular dishes Nagori Halwa and Bedmi Puri. They are available from 7am. We recommend you to try both of them. Though both of the dishes have same ingredient (SUJI), taste way different. As Nagori Halwa is served with halwa, is very sweet on the other hand Bedmi Puri served is a bit spicy. Nagori Halwa and Bedmi Puri both are served with aloo ki sabzi which has a unique taste here. After the main breakfast one should try Jalebis which are crunchy and savory. We will try Chole Bhature next time as we dint have so much empty space in our stomach. This has become one of the favourite breakfast points for Delhi peeps on Sunday. This food joint has a sitting area.

Some must try desserts they have are Mal Pua , Jalebi, Gulab Jamun

Cost effective

Cleanliness

Easily approachable

Fast service

Bharawan Da Dhaba

Whoa this place turned out to be a tastiest memory for our sudden trip to amritsar. So the story started when we were running hungry and searching food after took Darshan in Golden temple. We were looking here and there to see if there is something which can satisfy our craving and that too fill our stomach. Being Delhi6 wala we not only eat for hunger but also for taste as we are food lovers. So we asked some people over there in the gurdwara premises and trust us whomsoever we met suggested us only one place which was ” BHARAWAN DA DHABA”. So after hearing so much about the place we rush towards this food joint.

Cafe M.E.P

Rather than sitting idle in our messy room we decided to explore something new. Me and one of my foodie friend then started searching for some good places to jump in and gobble up new dishes. After a war of 15 min, Google suggested us this place and some of my friends have already been there. So without wasting any time we book a cab and landed outside the gate of this lounge. (This place is at walking distance from kailash colony metro station.) Soothing environment with very humble and helping staff welcomed us. Not like many other boring smoky lounges. This place has something out of the box to offer you.

Biryani Blues

So after all the shopping things done we 3 went to BIRYANI BLUES cp outlet next to KFC. First of all the order reached our table as soon as the starters finished. We call up paneer 65 in starters to start our visit to biryani blues CP just. Being vegan we ordered veg biryani without looking the menu though we wanted someone to recommend us a good vegetarian thing out of the bunch of non veg items in the menu. Then the biryani was served within 5 minutes by one of the staff of the branch. The rice was too juicy and full of flavour with appropriate amount of ghee and spices. We ordered one plate of veg biryani which was enough to satisfy 2 people. Not only quantity but quality of rice was also very good. I would say the scrumptious biryani I’ve ever tasted in Delhi.

Namely “The Rolling joint” is located at M block just behind Odeon Cinema, Cannaught place. This place has a small menu consists of several type of rolls. Out of all these we came up with the order of a cigar rolls along with cold coffee. Though the sitting area is not that spacious but the staff is very helping and humble. It is fun to sit with your loved ones on the cp roads and enjoy eating their rolls. We’ll recommended you all to go there once. This could be definitely a one of the cheap option in cp.

Chawla De Mashoor Chur Chur Naan

Be it moolchand and rohini we had choor choor naan many a times before in Delhi. Once again a small shop at the corner of paharganj market with not more than two tables and 7 chairs. This food outlet offers me special chur chur naan thali with alloo naan. So this thali has 2 aloo naan(with loads of butter) accompanied with Dal makhni and chholey at a cost of only 100 bucks. One plate was enough for a hungry person.

This place is simply very attractive because of the entrance is like a train boggie decorated with train windows. One can visit this awesome place with your family and little ones. Nizam’s Kathi Kabab

After chowringhee and other roll shops in Delhi we came to know about the Nizam’s Kathi roll in CP. This shop has quite a long story which was narrated to us by the book vendor next to him. Nizam’s has been serving from last more than 80 years in Delhi. This shop used to be the canteen of the PVR plaze of that time but now it has become a full fledged brand now.

So while I was searching some good books on Delhi’s History I decided to go there and try something not so heavy rolls. As we entered inside the shop the aura was like a shop we see in 90’s movie. The shop has still the old architectural style kept in it.

As far as the food is concerned this place is heaven for non veg lovers yes they have non veg items too but the main focus is on NON VEG. This time we had a non veg person too with us who can taste the food and talk about the taste of it. So we ordered two rolls, Potato Masala Roll and Double Egg and Double Mutton roll. Potato roll was good though there could be less oil in it but as I stated earlier the non veg on the other hand was too delicious and served with Raita(curd) and chutney!!!

Chaina Ram

Be it a breakfast or a business meeting we Delhi people are always in hurry and in search of some ready meals and take-aways. We are here talking about take away because this shop is one of those where you can take your 4-wheelers. Chaina rams’s shop is located just next to Fatehouri masjid, Chandni Chowk. Sitting area is not that spacious but sitll there is a sitting space for 10-12 people.

Apart from yesterday’s we atleast visit  twice a week Chaina Ram halwai as we always find mouthwtering taste as home-cooked food.

The shop is famous for Bedmi Puri. This whole dish consist of 2 puri’s, aloo ki sabzi, chholley, salad and pickle which gives it a complete Indian cuisine touch. Aalu chole sabzi is very tasty and tastes best when serve hot. Puri’s were so crispy and are deep fried in pure desi ghee. We have quite a sweet tooth looking forward to the dessert. We usually order gulab jamun and gajar ka halwa after the meal.

Just because all preperations are made with Desi Ghee here rates are bit higher as compared to other shops in Delhi-6.

Many other famous dishes they offer:

Karachi halwa, Kaju katli, more than 5 types of barfi, gajar ka halwa, badamser ki barfi, gulab jamun, Ghewar.

(some desserts like gajar ka halwa and ghewar are available only in some seasons)

So just forget your diet for one day and visit Chaina Ram Halwai as soon as possible!
